“Mikrowunder” and the promotion of young researchers

It is a major concern for us at the Kinderwunsch Institut to inspire young people to take an interest in science and research and to provide students with support in the form of practice-related training courses.

Our educational project “Wunder Leben” is designed to inspire young people to take an interest in science and research in the field of reproduction and genetics irrespective of their gender, religious and ethnic origins and social background. In the four sequential modules, the participants are instructed by specialists and actively involved in practical work.

In this connection, we also offer school visits and educational sessions in schools. If this is of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

In cooperation with two universities and a technical college, we are able to offer a Master's degree course in Clinical Embryology. Daily routine and theory are often felt to be in conflict in the medical field. When it comes to clinical embryology, however, practice cannot manage without theory nor can theory manage without practice. The half-life of knowledge in this highly specialised field of research is short while the pressure to create innovations is high.

With regard to clinical embryology, personnel working in IVF labs have to date largely only been able to acquire the necessary skills through studying best practice examples or learning by doing. But new input
and research-based options are needed if progress is to be achieved in clinical embryology. This is necessary so that clinical embryologists can deal with future challenges and obtain extensive awareness of the ethical aspects of their work, the demands that will be placed upon them and the complex obligations that religion and the laws bring with them.

MSc course in Clinical Embryology - the perfect education

The MSc degree program in Clinical Embryology takes all these factors into account. The course has been developed in compliance with the requirements for embryologists stipulated by the European Society of
Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and provides a thorough grounding in the subject. Graduates of this university degree course will have the necessary abilities, medical insight, ethical awareness and corresponding soft skills to work independently, after the need for only brief familiarisation, in IVF laboratories and reproductive medicine institutes.

Primarius Priv. Doz. Dr. Michael Schenk MAS and the Kinderwunsch Institut are major cooperation partners of the MSc degree course Clinical Embryology offered by the UNI for LIFE.
